FOX SPORTS TAPS STRATEGIC SPORTS GROUP TO PROMOTE NASCAR ON FOX

NEW YORK, Sept. 11, 2000 -- FOX Sports announced today that it has retained Strategic Sports Group, one of the leading promotion and marketing agencies in the U.S. that specializes exclusively in the area of sports, to promote NASCAR ON FOX, a new home network for NASCAR in 2001.

“NASCAR ON FOX represents two of the biggest and most prestigious names in the sports world today,” noted SSG principal Peter Stern, “and we are thrilled to be working with both of them.  This new assignment continues our long-term business strategy of providing unique, creative and well-researched sports advertising, marketing and promotional services to global companies.”

As part of its new association with FOX, Strategic Sports Group will develop partnerships that will enable NASCAR’s sponsors to leverage their NASCAR ON FOX relationships, as well as assist FOX in promoting its new NASCAR ON FOX broadcast schedule in the marketplace.

“Getting the word out about NASCAR’s move to FOX is critical in making our long-term investment pay off,” explained NealTiles, executive vice president, marketing for FOX Sports Networks, “and we feel that we have the perfect partner in Strategic Sports Group to help manage and activate our involvement with NASCAR.”

In November 1999, NASCAR announced that it had reached an eight-year agreement with FOX Sports to televise Winston Cup and Busch Series races.  FOX Sports begins its NASCAR broadcast schedule during SpeedWeek’s 2001 from Daytona, which  culminates with live flag-to-flag coverage of the 42nd Daytona 500 on February 18, 2001.

Strategic Sports Group, which is headquartered in New York City and operates a regional office in Atlanta, utilizes proprietary methodologies to help brands fully integrate and leverage the power of sports.  Among its list of services are corporate consulting, media planning and execution, grassroots sports marketing, sales promotion and event creation and management.
